My cat is peeing in unwanted places…

I understand how exhausting this can be – the constant cleaning and washing, the lingering smell of cat pee, the dread of wondering what you will find in the morning or when you come home – it can be enough to stop you having guests in your home and is one of the hardest problems to live with.

Have you tried following advice online, but nothing’s working and your furniture (or even floors or walls) are paying the price? You still love your cat but are slowing getting more and more frustrated with them.

I can help you with this package, designed to help us understand why they are toileting in unwanted places and going on to develop a clear action plan for getting your cat’s peeing habits in order! Imagine never having to worry about the smell of cat pee again. Wouldn’t it be a huge relief not to constantly be on “pee watch” and enjoy being with your cat without the drama?

If you can relate to this, you’re in the right place

Lucy was brilliant. She came to our home and met our cats and spent a long time talking to me about their behaviour and our concerns. She asked lots of questions and made lots of initial observations. We then received a written report which went into a huge amount of details with advice and recommendations to resolve the issues of one of our cats spraying in our home. Before we met Lucy, Reiben was spraying almost daily. We thought we had ideas as to why but after Lucy’s visit and report, we were able to make specific changes and within 3 months he has almost completely stopped! We’ve had a couple of incidents which we now know are due to a perceived threat entering the house. We’ve gone from all the doors being closed to them all open. We are all far happier including Reiben 😻 I can’t thank Lucy enough and would highly recommend her.”

Daisy and Sapphire’s Story

Daisy and Sapphire are two beautiful sisters who were causing problems for their lovely family by urine marking inside the home, sporadically at first, but increasing to every few days. To prevent further damage to the home and furnishings, they were closed out of different parts of the home, and it was upsetting their family to do so, as well as being a logistical nightmare. An additional challenge - the cause of the problem was out of the family’s hands – the girls were struggling to cope with cats outside their home as well as changes inside their territory.

We worked hard to understand how they were feeling and from here developed a behaviour plan to build their confidence and help them cope with the challenges of everyday life without needing to urine mark. Lisa said “Lucy gathered detailed background information, through meetings, photos and videos, then developed an initial plan for us to follow. We saw significant improvements within a few weeks and after a couple of months, the problem disappeared entirely. Lucy gave us several follow up plans, to cover situations such as going away etc, all of which were practical and easy to follow.” It is fantastic to see Lisa’s hard work pay off and see much more relaxed and confident cats.

FAQs

  • We are working with living, sentient animals with their own individual personalities, there are never any guarantees. However, part of my role is to understand your unique cat and their emotional needs and specific triggers for toileting in unwanted places. With this information, we can work together to find the solution that works for you and your cat to encourage appropriate toileting behaviours and keep your cat happy.

  • Unless there are significant welfare concerns, rehoming will not be recommended without extensive behavioural modifications and exhausting all appropriate avenues to help them feel happy and improve toileting habits. Sometimes, the reality is that some cats are in a situation that they just cannot cope with and rehoming can be the kindest option.

  • If you have the right level of cover - yes. I am a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist and my accreditations often mean you can reclaim the fee. Unfortunately, I’m not able to accept payments direct from insurance companies, so payment is sent to me first and you can claim it back.

  • Absolutely! You will need to provide more information initially, but the rest of the package is the same. Zoom consultations have been very effective over the past few years as often I don’t see the problem behaviour during my visit.

  • Up to 30 minutes travel (each way, from SO30 2GL) is included in the package. Between 30-60 minutes will incur a mileage fee of 45p per mile over 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I cannot travel over 60 minutes, but will be happy to help you over Zoom.
